James Partington Biography

James Partington is an award-winning Executive Producer, Journalist and Public Relations Consultant with two decades of experience in journalism, television, film and corporate content.

 

His career began at US financial network CNBC where he produced and edited news programming for 5 years including coverage of the 9/11 attacks. He attended three World Economic Forums and worked with WEF to produce their own location-based television channel.

 

James moved to CNN International and received nine promotions over a decade-long career including roles as EMEA News Desk Supervisor, Senior Planning Editor EMEA and Abu Dhabi Bureau Chief. A specialist at large scale event production, James has worked on multiple US/European Elections and produced the 2011 Royal Wedding. He also field-produced CNN's Arab Spring coverage out of Tahrir Square in Egypt; including the first wireless live broadcast from the pyramids of Giza. 

 

After a move to the Asia-Pacific region, James served as Executive Producer for News and Features in Hong Kong and produced 5x award-winning CNN documentary productions including celebrity talkshow ‘Talk Asia’, travel programme ‘CNNGo’ and the landmark ‘On China’ series. James was a regular traveller across the region to pitch multimillion dollar advertising deals to major clients that included the Chinese Government, Singaporean Government, Samsung and Korean Air.

 

James moved into a consultancy role with PR firm Brunswick and production house MerchantCantos to create content for a diverse range of clients including Alibaba, Cathay Pacific, Jardines, Chow Tai Fook and HK Ballet, but his principle client was HSBC for whom he managed a multi award-winning internal and external communications project called HSBC Now.

 

James is currently a non-Executive board member and the Director of Business Development for the digital content verification company Verifeye and has created his own content consultancy and production house ‘Creative by day’. James has lived and worked in New Zealand, Spain, USA, Mexico, England, UAE and Hong Kong; and speaks fluent Spanish and reasonable French alongside his native English. He is a passionate wine collector, underwater photographer and drone pilot and once spent a year teaching blind children how to waterski in New Zealand.
